About Surrey BC

Parks with lawns, gardens, and monument on the U.S/Canada border mark the 1812 treaties. The Peace Arch is a monument situated near the westernmost point of the Canada–United States border in the contiguous United States, between the communities of Blaine, Washington and Surrey, British Columbia.

Long, rocky beach with kid-friendly tide pools and views of the bay and distant mountains. Crescent Beach is a beach side community within South Surrey, British Columbia next to Boundary Bay and Mud Bay across from Delta, British Columbia. It is home to 1,200 residents, mostly in single-family homes.

Trails meander through mixed forest and meadow and along the gentle Serpentine River. Gain new views of the park and its significant salmon (spawning and rearing) habitat from the viewpoints on Hatchery and Trillium Trails. Cyclists can enjoy the Tynehead Perimeter Trail.

Campbell Valley Regional Park is a regional park maintained by the Metro Vancouver Regional Parks board. The park is formed from 6 historical farm plots, with portions set aside for the Langley Tree Farm and scout Camp McLean. It contains a vast number of hiking, walking and equestrian trails as well as function facilities such as picnic shelters. The park is also the location of the Metro Vancouver Regional Parks East Area offices, located at the northwest corner of the park.

Blackie Spit Park is a stunning City park located in the Crescent Beach neighbourhood of South Surrey. The park is named after the dramatic spit that extends into Mud Bay at the mouth of the Nicomekl River. Blackie Spit has amazing views of Mud Bay and the north shore mountain. Blackie Spit also offers some of the best bird watching areas in Canada, with almost 200 species of birds recorded in a calendar year. The sandy spit, surrounded by tidal marsh and eelgrass beds, is an important stop for migrating and wintering waterfowl and shorebirds, as they make their way up and down the coastline of North and South America.

Queen’s Park offers visitors a wide-range of outdoor pursuits in a cultivated park with many horticultural features and mature trees. Running and walking trails wind through the park connecting all its amenities.

The Annual Surrey International Children’s Festival inspires young hearts and minds to the greater possibilities and celebrates our rich and diverse cultural heritage though performing and visual arts experience. Children have an incredibly rich arts experience as they take part in the many hands-on activities on site, led by professional artists. The ticketed programming is a national and international selection of the highest calibre of performances for young audiences, bringing inspiration and awe to the residents of Surrey and the surrounding areas.

Join Mayor and Council along with Frosty and Santa as they flip the switch to light the City’s official Christmas tree and kick off the holiday season in Surrey at this free family event. Free concerts, sleigh rides, food and fun activities all day long. The event will feature an expanded Holiday Market showcasing goods from local vendors, a Holiday Fun Zone on University Drive including a free zip line, amusement rides, road hockey, a Storyville igloo and a DJ!

The Surrey Sport and Leisure Centre is a state-of-the-art facility that offers a wide range of programs, events, and services. The arena contains 3 full-size rinks that are also equipped for sledge hockey events! The facility has hosted provincial skating events and is a popular site for many Fraser Valley hockey tournaments.

Home to both figure skating and ice hockey programs and events, the facility is well served by local hotels and food and beverage outlets in the community.

Home of the BCJHL Surrey Eagles, the Olympic sized rink at the South Surrey Arena provides fixed seating for over 1200 hockey fans! The arena also contains 20,000 square feet of exhibit space, multipurpose rooms and parking for 296 vehicles.

As part of the community sport complex, South Surrey Arena is right next to South Surrey Athletic Park for even more playing fields and courts, and walking distance from the South Surrey Recreation Centre where there’s gymnasiums, fitness studios, child-minding services, and a café, just to name a few!

The nearby-located Morgan Crossing shopping precinct features over 60 outlet stores and dining establishments, providing convenient access to everything visitors need!

Newly built in March 2016, the design of the Grandview Heights Aquatic Centre received top industry award recognising innovation and technical excellence. The LEED Certified pool itself has been constructed with regional, provincial, national and international sport hosting events in mind. It has a 10-lane, 50m FINA-standard Olympic size competition pool with a full set of dive towers to a height of 10 meters. The centre also features separate 500 square meter leisure and lifestyle pools with a lazy river and spray feature, waterslide,and tot’s area to service the community.

Positioned at the intersection of 168 Street and 24 Avenue in the neighbourhood of South Surrey, the Grandview Heights Aquatic Centre provides easy access to accommodations, restaurants and activities. The neighbourhood of South Surrey is home to beaches, nature preserves, and scenic parks and trails, but with all the urban amenities of a metropolitan city.

Sports Surrey is excited to have this new addition to our line-up of sporting facilities!

Opened in November 2015, the Surrey Tennis Centre is an impressive addition to the city’s facility inventory. Surrey Tennis Centre is ideal for hosting tournaments with spectator seating, ample parking, and an onsite Tennis Academy for player development and coaching. The centre holds the only red clay courts in all of Western Canada! A Pro Shop staffed by experienced professionals is also on-site in addition to a gym specifically designed around the game of tennis to ensure athletes are fully taken care of.

The team at the centre brings a wealth of expertise in player, coach and program development. The Tennis Academy will foster the development of players and help them achieve their full potential through various training initiatives and competition support.

Located close to the centre of the city near King George Boulevard and Highway 10, this facility provides easy access to accommodations, dining and entertainment options, and major transportation links.

Softball City is ideal for hosting tournaments with four championship calibre diamonds and seating for over 1500 spectators in addition to separate umpire facilities! There’s also a fully licensed Sports Grill with a 232 seat outdoor patio overlooking all the action, a pro shop, separate umpire facilities, batting cages, and more. A large parking lot and easy access from the highway make transportation easy and quick.

As part of the community sport complex, Softball City is right next to South Surrey Athletic Park for even more playing fields and walking distance from the South Surrey Recreation Centre where there’s meeting rooms, multipurpose spaces, child-minding services, and a fitness studio, just to name a few!

The City of Surrey offers a variety of resources and services to seniors and their families. Supported by Surrey’s Age Friendly Strategy for Seniors, we also provide opportunities for seniors to stay active and engaged with our community. Newton Seniors Centre has a wide variety of services for seniors in the Newton community. This facility has a dedicated Seniors lounge, cafeteria and auditorium with stage, fitness and wellness areas, multi-purpose, activity and billiards rooms, and a computer lab.
